Answering the question
Most Task 2 questions will give you a statement then ask you a question. It is important that you READ the question. There are generally only four or five different questions. Most will be:
· To what extent do you agree or disagree?
· Do you think ths is true? If so why?
· Or, discuss both points of view and give your own opinion?
· Why/what causes this? What can be done to…?
It is important that you pay attention to this part of the question. In fact, write it down on the question paper so you remember what you are answering. Each type of question will require a different answer.
Don’t spend too much time thinking about the question. Only 3-4 minutes.
Ideally, you should aim to write one paragraph introduction, then 3-4 paragraphs for the main body, then a brief conclusion.
Each paragraph should contain one idea. Make a note at the beginning and write one sentence for each paragraph.
